Then he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.” Zechariah 4:6 (ESV)
Through the power of the Holy Spirit and His power alone we are conformed into the full image of Christ. We have to die to all other powers, the bottom line is that we will be unable to access Gods strength as long as we are reliant on our own wisdom or physical strength or moral standing, to overcome. In the scripture Zechariah 4:6 shown above. “Might” speaks about an army or many and this “Power” speak of the ability of one. In other words, we will not get victory by a great army or the force of many.
Sometimes when we get in trouble, we have become accustomed to get our own little army of specialists, most often these are our closest friends and families. A problem would arise, and we would call them and go through so many scenarios of different options and solutions to take. I know when in doubt or in trouble I would automatically ask my parents for their take, their opinion and direction. In the natural this is good and even the bible promotes good godly wisdom and advice. Nevertheless, this can unwittingly become an idol as we seek the direction God desires to give us, through others, even those very dear to us.
God also wants us to cultivate a deeper relationship with Him personally. To commune and converse and to share the issues of our hearts.
Dear Heavenly Father help me to seek you concerning the issues of my life. Help me to not lean on my own understanding or to depend on others to hear for me on my behalf in Jesus mighty name.
Much Love in Christ,
Your Sister,
Ruth
